TIAR Board meeting 121024

Present: Roberta Davis, William Spilly, Gaynelle Wethers, Faranza Islam, Tom Perry, Rich Codding

Absent: Barry- away on a Nation magazine adventure

Faranza gave us an excellent report on education in our city. She teaches at Monroe HS  She explained the disciplinary procedures at Monroe  their new innovations like half day school wide activity day, Smart (Athletic focus) and their community involvement as a Community Based School. Wednesday 12/11/24 there is a Zoom sponsored by The Solutions not Suspensions committee in cooperation with Children's Agenda to discuss alternative methods of discipline in our schools

Our treasures reported that we have $3,218 in our savings. There have been no transactions of late.  We do need to again contact our membership to renew their dues, still at $15. A team to include Tom, Richard and Bill will meet in January to send out the Presidents letter, and Brochures with applications. We will review old member lists and Gaynelle volunteered to make phone calls.

Our goal for 2025 is to coordinate with our affiliates which include: RAICA, Poor Peoples Campaign, RASE Committee on Mental Health, Solutions not suspension committee, GRCC ,possibly Metro Justice under new membership, Children’s Agenda and possibly Center for Youth.

Our next executive meeting is 1/7/25 on Zoom at 4PM. All Board members and interested General members are invited
